Oaxaca is one of Mexico's largest states with a rich folk art tradition.  Oaxacans have carved toys and masks for hundreds of years, but it is only recently that their woodcarvings have captured the imaginations of collectors all over the world.  The fourth grade students were introduced to several Mexican folk art traditions and created their own paper-mache animals in the Oaxacan style.
